Unlike CME, Bakkt settles the contract in the exchange’s own asset, i.e., in Bitcoin.

\n

Despite the new record, activity on Bakkt remains well below the figures posted by the leading crypto exchanges. The perpetual futures volume for the BTC/USDT pair on Binance was $2.65 billion, for BTC/USD on Huobi $1.28 billion, and for BTC/USD on OKEx $516 million.

\n

The only exchange lower was Deribit at $168 million.

\n

Earlier, the analytics software provider MicroStrategy said it bought an additional 16,796 BTC for $175 million. The aggregate investment in the first cryptocurrency, including fees and expenses, is estimated at $425 million.
