Bakkt to enable Bitcoin payments at Quiznos fast-food restaurants

Bakkt, a regulated platform for trading Bitcoin derivatives, will launch a pilot program that will allow the Quiznos fast-food restaurant chain to accept payments in Bitcoin.

First access to Bitcoin payments will be given to residents of Denver, where a high-traffic Quiznos restaurant is located at the airport. The program is scheduled to start in August.

Quiznos customers who pay for their purchase via the Bakkt app will receive $15 in Bitcoin.

If successful, the program will be expanded to other Quiznos locations in the United States.

Mark Lomann, President of Quiznos REGO Restaurant Group, said the partnership would allow the restaurant to accept cryptocurrency quickly and seamlessly at the point of sale.

In June, Bakkt introduced a virtual Visa debit card for paying with Bitcoin.

In March, the platform launched an app that enables users to store, buy, and sell the first cryptocurrency.
