A Barnaul resident reported to the police after becoming the victim of criminals who stole 14 million rubles, according to the Altai Krai Police Department’s website.
According to law enforcement, the victim entered into a contract with a certain financial analyst to help with trading on the stock market.
Since 2019, the Barnaul resident transferred 14 million rubles to a trading account under the consultant’s management.
Subsequently he said that all funds were lost due to a ‘Bitcoin crash on the cryptocurrency exchange’.
A criminal case for large-scale fraud has been opened in connection with the incident.
Earlier a doctor from Saint Petersburg lost 800 thousand rubles in an attempt to invest in cryptocurrencies.
