Base L2 Activity Surpasses Ethereum in TPS
For the first time in history, two Layer 2 networks have surpassed Ethereum in transactions per second (TPS). Base topped the 24-hour ranking for the metric, independent researcher The Coinbase-backed L2 protocol reached 12.93 TPS, according to L2BEAT. The zkSync Era figure stood at 12.62 TPS, while the mainnet of the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap — Ethereum — registered 10.18 TPS. Platform activity on Base over the past week rose by almost 50%. Chen noted that the project is actively drawing liquidity from other chains and appears to be on a growth trajectory. According to BaseScan, on September 14 the network processed a record 1.88 million transactions in a day. By comparison, leader by TVL Arbitrum and Optimism posted 503,655 and 378,444 respectively, with TVL. Base’s TVL over the past week has hardly changed and remains around $381 million. zkSync Era liquidity shows a similar trend, but at a higher level — $417 million. According to DeFi Llama, almost half of Base-locked assets are on the decentralized exchange Aerodrome — $132 million. In second place on the list is Web3 social network Friend.Tech with $36 million. However the latter protocol leads in fee income — in the last 24 hours the figure stood at $0.98 million with a profit of $0.5 million. Overall, Friend.Tech, whose “death” was noted by some market participants at the end of August, earned $4.84 million in a week from transaction fees. The full Base mainnet launch took place on August 9. Рассылки ForkLog: держите руку на пульсе биткоин-индустрии!
