According to data from the analytical platform Growthepie, the number of active addresses on the L2 solution Base increased by 45% in August. The network outpaced Arbitrum One, ZKsync Era, and Linea.
In the past 24 hours, over 919,000 addresses interacted with Base. By comparison, Arbitrum One saw a decrease of 1.6%, ZKsync Era dropped by 32%, and Linea fell by 63%.
The rise in network activity may be linked to the launch of the Basenames domain name system. Base’s head, Jesse Pollak, noted that users created over 200,000 base.eth domain names in the first week following the event.

Additionally, the meme token with staking support Base Dawgz (DAWGZ) announced the completion of its presale on August 28, 2024.
The project’s native network is Base, but the token will also be issued on the Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, and Avalanche blockchains. At the time of writing, Base Dawgz has raised over $3 million at a price of $0.008173 per token.
DAWGZ can be purchased with Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), BNB, and immediately staked with an APY of over 770%.
Following the presale, the project will launch an airdrop. To participate, users need to connect their X-account on the Base Dawgz website and post memes and other content related to the project on social media. Organizers will award points for these activities, which can be exchanged for DAWGZ.
According to DeFi Llama, the total value locked (TVL) in the Base network has reached $1.5 billion. Among L2 solutions, only Arbitrum surpasses it with a TVL of $2.68 billion.
