The average transaction fee on the L2 networks Optimism fell 56%, from $0.57 to $0.16, after the recent Bedrock update, according to the dashboard Dune.
Over the past few days, users saved nearly $150,000 on gas fees.
“The majority of the total transaction cost, about 86%, is attributed to the expected costs of sending data to [Ethereum],” said The Block< a href="https://www.theblock.co/post/233949/optimisms-bedrock-upgrade-has-already-saved-150000-in-transaction-fees"> The Block analytics in OP Labs Michael Silberling.
According to him, the drop in Optimism fees is linked to the decline in gas prices on the mainnet. At the time of writing, the average Ethereum gas price stood at about 30 gwei.
Currently, Optimism is one of the cheapest Layer 2 networks in terms of fees. In the L2Fees ranking, it is outrun only by Loopring and Polygon.
According to data Defi Llama, total value locked in Optimism reaches $865.5 million.
In May, the Worldcoin startup team announced the migration of applications from the Polygon network to the Optimism ecosystem. The project led by OpenAI head Sam Altman began collaborating with L2 solution developers almost a year ago in developing the Ethereum Improvement Proposal — EIP-4844.
