The Ministry of Justice of Belarus has established the procedure for seizing digital currencies within enforcement proceedings. This was reported on the site of the ministry.
The document was adopted to implement the February decree on the creation of a registry of bitcoin wallets, used in illicit activity.
The accounting of seized or restrained cryptocurrencies must be carried out by the bodies conducting criminal proceedings.
The April 14 resolution codifies the procedure for seizing cryptocurrencies, including in cases of debtor’s property confiscation. The procedure also provides for their valuation and sale within enforcement proceedings.
In 2018, Belarus enacted the Decree on the Development of the Digital Economy. It laid out the framework for the use of cryptocurrencies and tokens, and introduced tax incentives for crypto operations.
