Biblical message found in Bitcoin block 666,666

An unknown person added a quote from the sixth book of the New Testament to Bitcoin block 666,666.

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good,” reads a quotation from Romans 12:21 in the Epistle to the Romans.


Amounts totaling about $160 in the first cryptocurrency were sent to two addresses, the first characters of which spell the words “God” and “Bible” in English.

The sender paid more than $50 in fees — five times the day\’s peak average transaction fee, according to Bitinfocharts. The elevated fee was likely intended to guarantee inclusion of the transaction in a block.
