The company acquired 4,012 LAND — non-fungible tokens (NFTs) ahead of their fourth presale on 15 September. Binance will use the coins for in-game interaction with the community in The Sandbox’s virtual worlds.
In December the exchange plans to distribute LANDs to authors of the most interesting games built on The Sandbox Game Maker.
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao noted that the collaboration with The Sandbox opens a new realm of entertainment that will give players more freedom.
“It is clear that blockchain technology has great potential in the gaming industry. It offers significant improvements for gamers and developers, especially in terms of decentralisation, transparency and interoperability,” emphasised the Binance chief.
The Sandbox platform is built on the Ethereum blockchain and includes an editor for creating in-game items, a decentralised marketplace and a developer service.
In the virtual world, players can create digital assets, monetise their experiences using the SAND token and NFT tokens. During the presale, major buyers included well-known cryptocurrency companies: CryptoKitties, My Crypto Heroes, Old Skull Games and others.
The Sandbox token sale in lottery format started on 13 August on the Launchpad platform. To purchase SAND at $0.008333, Binance tokens (BNB) are required.
