Binance chief comments on top executives' departure amid DOJ investigation

Binance’s chief executive Changpeng Zhao (CZ) commented on media reports about the departure of top executives amid a U.S. Department of Justice investigation.

According to Fortune, this week several top executives left the firm. They include Chief Strategy Officer Patrick Hillmann, Senior Vice President for Regulatory Compliance Steven Christie, and Chief Counsel Han Ng.

Patrick Hillmann officially подтвердил свой уход.

Zhao said the reasons cited by the press for the top executives’ departures are “completely false”. In his words, what is happening is ordinary staff turnover.

“We thank all former members of our team for their contribution to the growth of the company, and we wish them all the best. We also congratulate the members of our team who have risen to new roles,” Zhao said.

He added that aside from the chief strategy officer, no one else left the company this week.

“We thank all former members of our team for their contribution to the growth of the company, and we wish them all the best. We also congratulate the members of our team who have risen to new roles,” Zhao said.

As reported on June 5, the SEC filed a lawsuit against Binance. In March, a similar suit against the exchange was brought by CFTC.

Earlier reports indicated disagreements within the U.S. Department of Justice over charges against the exchange’s leadership.
