Binance to donate up to $3 million in BNB to Morocco earthquake victims

Identification of local residents will be conducted using Proof-of-Address.

Clients from the Marrakesh-Safi province, which bore the heaviest impact, who completed the verification procedure by 9 September will receive $100 in cryptocurrency. Those confirming their residence after the specified date will be eligible for a $25 reward.

Active users in Morocco who are not in the affected area are offered $10.

«We expect our efforts will reach around 70,000 Binance users in Morocco. The funds will be disbursed to our clients from 12 September 2023,» said representatives of the crypto exchange.

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao expressed support for local residents and pledged to provide assistance to those affected.

Binance Charity has also launched a donation address for Moroccan citizens. The collected funds will be directed to a nonprofit charitable organization.

In November 2022, Binance launched a fund to mitigate the cascading negative impactof the FTX collapse on the industry. The trading platform contributed $1 billion to it and announced plans to increase this sum to $2 billion.
