Binance to earmark $1 million for IT-education project for Ukrainians

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, together with Binance Charity, announced the launch of the IT Generation educational project. Representatives of Binance told ForkLog UA.

Participants will be able to undertake free online or offline training in IT disciplines as part of various courses.

Binance Charity will allocate $1 million in BUSD for scholarships.

IT Generation is aimed at supporting Ukrainians, many of whom have lost their jobs because of the war.

The project is part of the Binance Scholar programme, under which students will receive educational and professional support after completing the courses.

Training will be delivered by licensed Ukrainian EdTech companies, including ITEA and Beetroot.

In the first phase, IT Generation will train at least 1,000 students. Applicants must be Ukrainian citizens aged between 21 and 60, and they must not have prior work experience or education in IT.

Among the fields potential students can choose are FrontEnd, QA, JavaScript, Python, Java or blockchain development, as well as project/product management, UX/UI design, digital marketing, business analytics or HR.

The course selected by a participant must meet the following criteria:

• Duration of at least two and no more than six months;
• Cost of no more than $250 per month and $1,000 for the entire course;
• Workload of at least four hours per week;
• Online or offline format for group or individual training.

The project is being conducted with the support of Lviv IT Cluster.

Earlier, Binance announced it would allocate $10 million to address the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, and the Binance Charity initiative launched a fundraising drive to help Ukrainian refugees and children.

In April, the company released the Binance Refugee Card cryptocurrency card for Ukrainians forced to relocate to Europe because of Russia’s invasion. In addition, the exchange launched a financial-support project for internally displaced persons in Ukraine.
