Binance to suspend deposits ahead of BNB Chain hard fork Plato

The cryptocurrency exchange Binance will support the BNB Chain mainnet hard fork named Plato, which will occur at block 30 720 096, or roughly on August 10 at 5:00 (Kyiv/Moscow Time).

Deposits and withdrawals will be temporarily halted 15 minutes before the upgrade.

Plato includes the BEP-126 proposal, which integrates the FastFinality mechanism to speed up block finality.

In the near term, the mainnet will undergo three more planned hard forks — Hertz, London, Berlin. Their activation is scheduled for the end of August.

The innovations will improve compatibility with Ethereum networks and imply minor changes to fee mechanisms.

Earlier the BNB Chain developers activated Luban, which increased the security and reliability of transactions.

In June the project launched the opBNB testnet — EVM-compatible scaling solution for layer-2 based on Optimism.

In April, the blockchain team told about the implemented and planned network updates.
