Bitcoin ATM installations rebound worldwide in October
After a slump in September — down 459 devices — the number of Bitcoin ATMs worldwide in October rose by more than 200 units to 38,823, according to Coin ATM Radar.
On 29 October 2013, Robocoin installed the first Bitcoin ATM in a Vancouver coffee shop (Canada). In the first week the device processed 348 transactions totaling more than $100,000, Cointelegraph noted.
That operator ceased to exist, and the focus of Bitcoin ATM deployments shifted to the United States — the country accounts for 88% of the total. In October alone, the number of devices in the U.S. grew by 129 units out of a global rise of 205 units.
Canada retains second place in the world ranking with a 6.6% share of installed crypto ATMs. On 22 October, Spain rose to third with 215 Bitcoin ATMs or 0.6% of the total.
In terms of manufacturers, BitAccess leads with 12,125 ATMs (31.2% of the market). Next are Genesis Coin (9,339, 24.1%) and General Bytes (8,957, 23.1%).
Leading operator is Bitcoin Depot — the firm runs 6,820 devices or 17.6% of the market. In August, the company announced going public through a merger with SPAC SPAC GSR II Meteora Acquisition Corp.
Earlier, Grand View Research valued the Bitcoin ATM market at $1.88 billion by 2028.
