Bitcoin climbs above $11,500 to yearly high

On Saturday, August 1, Bitcoin rose above $11,500 for the first time this year. This marks a new price high for 2020, and the highest level since August 11, 2019.

In the last 24 hours BTC rose 4%, and over the last 7 days — 20.5%

The price of Ethereum reached $357. The daily gain was 7.6%, and the weekly gain 28%.

Other altcoins are also in the green. The biggest gains in the last 24 hours were Bitcoin SV (+14%), Bitcoin Cash (+8%), XRP (+7%), and Litecoin (+7%).

By 06:00 UTC (09:00 MSK), BTC quotes rose to $11,630. The total cryptocurrency market capitalization surpassed $351 billion, of which 60.9% accounted for by Bitcoin.

This is already the second price high for Bitcoin this year – on July 28 the first cryptocurrency rose to $11,417.

For the first time since January 2018, Bitcoin closed the month above $11,000 — at $11,351.
