Bitcoin Core to add Tor V3 address support in new client
The new Bitcoin Core version (v0.21) will add support for Tor V3 addresses. This was announced by Blockstream co-founder Pieter Wuille.
Bitcoin Core v0.21 will support Tor V3 addresses, and BIP155 (which supports gossiping them over the network).
Tor V2 addresses are deprecated since last month, and will be disabled in Oct 2021: https://t.co/GQjTN94L4j https://t.co/QimLo4tSJx

Wuille emphasised the substantial contribution of Vasil Dimov, who introduced the proposal several years ago.
Thanks to Vasil Dimov, who has been pushing this effort, @orionwl who started the proposal a few years ago, and all reviewers and other contributors who helped it get this far.

According to Wuille, the release of the new version of the popular Bitcoin client is likely to be in December.

According to the Tor Project blog, by 15 October 2021 developers will release new client versions that disable V2 addresses. Tor participants already have access to third-version addresses.
V3 addresses offer stronger cryptography and reveal less information than their V2 counterparts.

In the previous version Bitcoin Core (0.20.1), developers downgraded the status of nodes that relay invalid blocks to the network.
