Bitcoin Developer Unveils Anonymous DAO to Safeguard Freedom

Amir Taaki, an early Bitcoin developer, has introduced the first fully anonymous DAO with token-based governance.

According to the programmer, none of the decentralized organization’s activities are traceable online. Participants, their shares, transactions, the treasury, and all voting-related aspects remain concealed.

Taaki believes this approach aligns with the original mission of cryptocurrencies as an anti-government technology that benefits people.

He emphasized that a DAO operating entirely “in the shadows” could aid resistance groups in totalitarian countries without the risk of exposure and arrest. Through the online structure, they can establish rules and collect funds managed by a team.

“We need anonymous DAOs to protect freedom more than ever,” the developer stated.

Taaki also referred to the current internet industry’s reliance on user surveillance and data collection for advertisers.

“Let’s create the future internet and a free society. Globalism will end. It’s time to take this seriously,” the developer emphasized.

In the comments, users questioned how a DAO without on-chain transparency could protect itself from malicious actions by participants, including authorities.

“Just don’t let them in. You can also restrict who is allowed to make proposals or execute them,” Taaki replied.

In July, the DeFi protocol Compound Finance community suspected participants of a “governance attack” on the DAO.
