Bitcoin loses ground in new Chinese cryptocurrency ranking

The China Center for the Development of Information Technology (CCID) published the 19th global ranking of cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin failed to hold 12th place and returned to April levels – down to 14th place, reports Bitcoin.com.

Leadership in the ranking remains with EOS. Ethereum rose from third to second place. Behind it is the corporate-oriented protocol IOST. Tron lost two positions, slipping to fourth.

The Cosmos showed the most rapid movement, rising fifteen places to sixth.

The newcomer to the ranking — the cryptocurrency Cardano — took the penultimate, 36th place. The XRP token from Ripple returned to the 15th position, having scored highly for the underlying technology that underpins it.

The Global Index of Public Blockchain Technology ranks projects across three key dimensions: base technology, practical value, and originality.

CCID is a division of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Earlier experts questioned whether the Chinese authorities would be able to контролировать Bitcoin by virtue of the country housing a larger share of mining capacity.
