Employees of \”DTEK Kyiv Regional Electric Grids\” discovered an illegally connected cryptocurrency mining farm in a forest south of Kyiv. UNIAN reports, citing the company’s press service.

During an inspection of the transformer substation at a closed agricultural enterprise, specialists checked the adjacent security building.
\n\n
\”A buried cable was connected to the power transformer, bearing a fairly heavy load,\” the statement said.
\n\n
Following the cable route, the staff uncovered a tarpaulin-covered, branch-camouflaged dugout; inside lay a cryptocurrency mining farm.
\n\n
They prepared a bill for electricity theft totaling 1.1 million hryvnias (about $40,900).
\n\n
Earlier in December, the Security Service of Ukraine uncovered an underground mining farm in Kyiv region, whose owners allegedly stole electricity worth 3.5 million hryvnias (over $128,000).
