
Bitcoin Mining Farm Destroyed in Irkutsk Region Fire
A single-story residential house in the village of Baklashi, Irkutsk region, was destroyed by fire. The house contained a cryptocurrency mining farm, according to a report from the local Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS).
The incident occurred on the night of March 20. By the time rescuers arrived, the fire had engulfed the entire structure, causing the roof and ceiling to collapse.
The fire consumed 80 square meters of the house, but the spread to neighboring buildings was prevented.
During the site inspection, burnt ASIC miners were discovered.
Details of the incident are being investigated.
Earlier, ForkLog reported that the damage from “grey” miners in Russia is estimated at 10 billion rubles annually.
Since September 1, 2024, a law regulating cryptocurrency mining has come into effect in Russia. Additionally, the country has set an energy consumption limit for individual miners.
In certain regions, authorities have imposed a ban on cryptocurrency mining and participation in mining pools from January 1, 2025, to March 15, 2031.
