Bitcoin's oldest mining pool immortalises bullish newspaper headline in a block

On 3 December, the oldest mining pool SlushPool immortalised in block #659678 of the Bitcoin network a Reuters headline “Dollar plummets on U.S. stimulus hopes; bitcoin hits all-time peak”.

The article describes the U.S. dollar weakening as Bitcoin reached an all-time high above $19,900 on December 1.

The pool’s miners decided to ‘immortalise’ the bullish headline about Bitcoin.

This is a nod to the genesis block of Bitcoin, signed by Satoshi Nakamoto. The creator of the first cryptocurrency included in it The Times’ headline from January 3, 2009: ‘Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks’.

Back in June 2020, one of the cryptocurrency’s users added the message ‘Hi, Noah! Welcome to this world, little one’ in one of the transactions, thereby recording the birth of his first child.
