Bitdeer surpasses MARA with AI investment and Bitcoin sales.

Bitdeer has overtaken MARA in total computing power. By the end of December 2025, the firm’s overall hashrate reached 71 EH/s.

Of this, 55.2 EH/s is from its own mining, while the rest is allocated to hosting client equipment.

The longstanding industry leader MARA has a hashrate of 61.7 EH/s.

However, direct comparison may be inaccurate: Bitdeer accounts for total managed hashrate, while MARA considers connected capacity.

AI Investment and Asset Sales

Bitdeer’s growth is linked to the implementation of its proprietary SEALMINER chips. In December 2025, the company mined 636 BTC—compared to just 145 BTC the previous year.

The firm is actively selling its mined cryptocurrency. VanEck’s Head of Research, Matthew Sigel, noted that Bitdeer sells all mined coins and even part of its reserves to fund its AI initiatives.

The company combines mining with developing infrastructure for AI and high-performance computing. Its data centers are located in Canada, Ethiopia, Norway, and the USA.

Divergent Strategies

Competitors employ different capital management strategies:

• MARA adheres to an accumulation strategy. The company holds over 55,000 BTC—the second-largest Bitcoin reserve among public firms after Strategy.
• In contrast, Bitdeer maintains minimal digital assets. Its reserves are about 2,000 BTC.

At the time of writing, Bitdeer’s shares rose by 4.07% to $12.77.

MARA’s shares increased by 2%, reaching $10.93.

Earlier, on January 8, the difficulty of mining the first cryptocurrency decreased by 1.2% to 146.47 T.
