Bitfinex halts trading after major outage

A fault at the Biftinex exchange led to a halt in trading, the platform’s team said around 14:30 MSK.

We are investigating issues with the platform and have to temporarily halt trading. We will inform here and on the bitfinex.statuspage.io page as soon as we know the details. We apologise for the inconvenience., the company said.

Later, representatives of the exchange said they had identified the cause of the issues and assured that user funds are safe.

Around 16:00, a notice said that the work was near completion and that the ability to cancel orders would resume.

Bitfinex did not specify when the remaining services would be back online. Some users commented that withdrawals are unavailable.

In November 2021, Binance disclosed details of the outage involving old Dogecoin transactions after Elon Musk urged it.
