Horowitz will oversee BitGo’s compliance programmes and monitor adherence to regulatory requirements.
“Jeff Horowitz’s knowledge of traditional financial services and crypto markets will be crucial in navigating state, federal and international rules,” BitGo said.
In October 2020 Horowitz left the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, where he had held a similar role since 2018. Under his leadership the company put in place compliance mechanisms aligned with the Financial Action Task Force’s standards.
On December 31, BitGo agreed to pay a fine of $93,830 for violations of the U.S. sanctions program.
