BlackRock launches ETF focused on blockchain and crypto companies

The iShares ETF provider, part of BlackRock, launched an ETF based on the NYSE FactSet Global Blockchain Technologies Index.

Blockchain and Tech ETF получил тикер IBLC.

Инструмент отслеживает динамику акций американских и зарубежных компаний в области разработки, инноваций и использования блокчейна и криптотехнологий.  В частности, связанные с майнингом, его инфраструктурой, торговлей криптовалютами и производством чипов. 

ETF не предполагает прямую покупку цифровых активов.

ETF состоит из 34 активов. На момент запуска наибольшие доли принадлежат акциям Coinbase (11.45%), Marathon Digital Holdings (11.19%) и Riot Blockchain (10.41%). 9.15% находится в долларах США.

Total Expense Ratio составляет 0.47%, AUM на 27 апреля — $4.7 млн.

Запуск Blockchain and Tech ETF сопровождался публикацией отчета iShares о драйверах роста экономики. В нем аналитики упомянули блокчейн-технологии наряду с геномикой, точной медициной, продуктами растительного питания, робототехникой и электромобилями.

“The capitalization of many cryptocurrencies has risen sharply since 2020, but the market appears not to have valued the influence of blockchain advocates and those who facilitate the transformation of payments, contracts and consumption.”, the document says.

In April 2022, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink said there was potential for expanding into the cryptocurrency market. Nine months earlier, he had noted minimal client interest in digital assets.

In February, media reported that BlackRock would add the ability to trade cryptocurrencies in the portfolio management system Aladdin. It was also reported that the company planned to integrate collateralised lending for digital assets.
