The crypto-lending platform BlockFi mistakenly credited clients’ accounts with large sums of Bitcoin and demanded the return of the cryptocurrency. Reddit users рассказали.
The issue relates to a промоакцией, presumably payouts in the Gemini Dollar (GUSD) stablecoins. By mistake, some clients were credited with Bitcoin rewards. One of them allegedly received more than 700 BTC (approximately $28.32 million at the time of writing).
The company now demands that users return the credits, offering monetary compensation for the inconvenience. If refused, BlockFi threatens legal action.

According to заявлению BlockFi, the error affected “fewer than 100 clients” and will not affect the company’s ongoing operations. The spokesperson said the platform has contacted those involved and is working on a resolution.
BlockFi will place mining equipment for cryptocurrencies in one of Blockstream’s data centers.
In March 2021, BlockFi raised $350 million in funding at a valuation of $3 billion.
