Blur CEO Reveals Identity

Known in the community as Pacman, Blur’s head revealed his identity amid a sharp rise in interest in NFT marketplaces.

“When we created Blur, I liked using the pseudonym. […] Now that the Blur community has grown geometrically, I no longer have the ability to take so many one-on-one calls as before. It is time to reveal my identity publicly,” he wrote.

According to the thread, Pacman studied at MIT and founded Namebase, which he subsequently sold.

“At this point, Pacman is synonymous with my own identity, and that name is much easier to pronounce than my real one. I will continue to call myself Pacman,” he added, Blur’s CEO.

According to the information provided, CoinDesk linked Pacman to profiles on LinkedIn and Crunchbase. According to the former, Tieshun Roquerre [Tieshun Roquerre] left MIT, received a grant to create Namebase, and in 2021 sold the project.

In the LinkedIn profile it is also noted that since January 2022 Roquerre has led the Stealth company. On ForkLog UA’s network, it was possible to find a company with the same name. It is noted that it is engaged in software development.

On February 14, the marketplace held the first season of the airdrop for Blur. Against the backdrop of distributing reward packages, the platform outpaced in weekly trading volume the long-time leader of the segment — OpenSea.

Subsequently, Pacman urged NFT creators to ignore the competing platform due to the royalty policy.

Against this backdrop, the OpenSea team transitioned the marketplace to an ‘optional royalties’ model, temporarily suspended fees and allowed assets to be listed on third-party platforms.

Earlier on February 21, Blur announced the distribution of an additional 300 million tokens in the second season of the airdrop. The size of the reward package will depend on loyalty metrics.
