Blur CEO urges NFT creators to boycott OpenSea

Known in the community as Pacman, the head of Blur призвал creators of non-fungible tokens to ignore competitor OpenSea and list their collections on a curated NFT marketplace.

The initiative arose in response to the competitor’s actions. In November 2022, the market leader внедрил an on-chain rewards-collection tool for new collections. The code in the smart contract restricted NFT sales to marketplaces that charge creators a fee.

Currently, NFT creators cannot receive royalties on Blur and OpenSea simultaneously — due to differences in marketplace policies.

Pacman outlined several scenarios:

“We prefer that creators have the ability to receive royalties on all marketplaces they have whitelisted, without having to choose. To encourage this, Blur charges the full fees from collections that block trading on OpenSea. Authors who agree to this option will be eligible to participate in the second season of the airdrop,” — he explained.

As reported, Blur said it aimed to be valued at $1 billion following a funding round in the wake of the airdrop of its namesake utility token.

A number of major exchanges, including Coinbase, Huobi, Gate, KuCoin, Bybit and OKX, have confirmed listing BLUR.
