BNB Chain team unveils roadmap for opBNB, the L2 network
BNB Chain developers have unveiled the roadmap second-layer solution for opBNB, aimed at boosting performance and reducing transaction costs in the network.
Let’s explore the opBNB Roadmap together!
Our roadmap is based on these core design principles:
?High Performance & Low Cost
?AppChain Architecture
?Community CollaborationSo, how will opBNB achieve the above? ?[1/8]https://t.co/7iansBaRj8

The primary goal is to reach 10,000 TPS by the end of 2024 and cut fees by tenfold from the current level of around $0.005.
Cost reductions are achieved through sharding and BNB Greenfield, by doing away with persistent storage of data on the main chain.
Moreover, the protocol will boost throughput by doubling the gas limit from 100 million to 200 million. This will make the platform “one of the fastest layer-2 solutions.”
The opBNB team will implement an architecture of app-chains, designed to foster the development of decentralized applications on the L2 network.
Developers also intend to integrate the Multiple Proof (\u201cMultiple Proof\u201d) system to provide a more adaptable and secure environment.
The refreshed opBNB will feature several node types:
- a archival node that stores the full blockchain history;
- a full node — stores the latest state of the network;
- a fast node — enables participation in governance by users with modest hardware.
Earlier, the BNB Chain developers announced the public launch of the opBNB mainnet. The network is built on the OP Stack from Optimism and uses the scaling technology Optimistic Rollups.
