The WEX Case

On September 20, police arrested the former owner of the WEX crypto exchange, Dmitry “Moryachka” Khavchenko. He was charged with illegal possession of firearms.

Additionally, the court sentenced the “Red Admin” Alexey Bilyuchenko to 3.5 years in prison and a fine of 500,000 rubles.

Ukraine in the Chainalysis Ranking

Ukraine ranked fifth in the global cryptocurrency recognition rating published by analytics firm Chainalysis. In the top four were India, Nigeria, Vietnam and the United States. The top 10 also included the Philippines, Indonesia, Pakistan, Brazil and Thailand. Russia finished 13th, dropping four places over the year.

Digital Ruble

The State Duma Budget and Tax Committee recommended approving in the first reading a bill that would integrate the digital ruble into the tax regulation and control system.

Elon Musk plans to introduce a “small monthly fee” for using the social network X. In his view, this measure would help address the problem of the “vast army of bots.”

Bull Market

Bitfinex experts say that the behavior of long-term Bitcoin investors is typical of the onset of a bull market: “They quickly take profits from a portion of their spot holdings, and then redeploy them after a sudden drop or a period of decline.”

Investment Dispute

A domestic dispute between the 35-year-old Thai resident Utai Kritsada and his wife over unsuccessful investments in the first cryptocurrency led to violence and a confrontation with police: the man shot his wife with a pistol and barricaded himself in the house. The incident was sparked by a loss of 700 000 baht (~$19 500) on Bitcoin investments, prompting the wife to evict him and seek a divorce.
