Britain to deploy blockchain to track the COVID-19 vaccine
The National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom will implement a blockchain-based solution built on Hedera Hashgraph to monitor the storage of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to Cointelegraph.
Drugs used in the country to combat the virus must be kept under strict conditions.
Everyware will provide NHS with a solution to track the stages of containment, distribution and administration of the vaccine.
In addition to blockchain-based software on the Hedera network, the company uses its own hardware at medical facilities.
The Everyware Platform is built on Amazon Web Services EC2 cloud infrastructure and offers clients the ability to integrate with Internet of Things (IoT) sensors.
The corporate Hedera Hashgraph network is used to store and process data from IoT devices that monitor vaccine storage conditions.
The blockchain is used to record the sequence of events in the vaccine supply chain and to create timestamps. Such an approach is expected to simplify data sharing between suppliers, storage facilities and transport firms.
Initially, Everyware will roll out the Hedera-based solution to a selected group of NHS facilities in the South Warwickshire region. Vaccines will be tracked from production to use in local hospitals.
In January, on the dark web discovered more than 340 fake advertisements for sale of coronavirus vaccines for bitcoins.
