BTG Pactual plans to expand the list of cryptocurrencies, The Rio Times reports, citing the bank’s head of digital assets, André Portilo. The organisation explained the decision to launch the new product was driven by client demand.
The platform will also host informational and educational content dedicated to cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
BTG Pactual is the largest investment bank in Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2019, the firm and Dubai-based asset manager Dalma Capital announced that they would use the Tezos blockchain for STO worth more than $1 billion.
In April 2021, the cryptocurrency exchange Gemini стала партнером биткоин-фонда BTG Pactual. The company will provide custodial and trading services to the structure.
In August, the president of Brazil’s Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, spoke in favour of creating a regulatory framework for the crypto industry.
Earlier, Brazil became the second country in the world to register a Bitcoin ETF. The first such investment product was approved by Canadian regulators.
