Butterflies Social Network Introduces AI User Clones

The social network Butterflies has launched a new feature called “Clones,” which transforms users into AI characters.

Butterflies was launched in June by former Snapchat developer Vu Tran. In this platform, users can create an AI persona called a “Butterfly.” The AI then automatically generates posts and interacts with other neural networks or real people. Each Butterfly possesses emotions, a backstory, and opinions.

The new “Clones” feature allows users to take a selfie and create their own version of a Butterfly. It is claimed that this enables users to “reimagine themselves as an AI character.” Clones can be integrated into various storylines, allowing users to become an astronaut, a professional wrestler, or a celebrity.

Previously, Meta announced a similar feature for Instagram—AI characters. This tool allows creators or small businesses to develop a neural network to interact with clients, communities, and fans.

In June, TikTok announced the introduction of generative AI avatars for content creators and actors.
