Bybit launches World Series of Trading (WSOT) with $7.5 million prize pool

The crypto exchange Bybit launched the annual trader competition World Series of Trading (WSOT) with a prize pool of $7.5 million. Registration for the event will open on 18 August 2021 at 13:00 (MSK).

Last year’s tournament saw more than 12,000 traders participate: 135 teams and 2,128 traders received rewards totaling $1.27 million.

\n\n\n

The WSOT 2021 prize pool has been increased fivefold compared with the previous year. Organisers will award up to $6 million in the team standings and up to $1.5 million in the individual category. In addition, participants will be able to obtain collectible NFTs that Bybit has issued for the tournament.

“WSOT is back: bigger and better. This tournament not only creates a spirit of competition, but also demonstrates the positive impact of the crypto industry on our daily lives. Moreover, WSOT is part of our contribution to the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies. Events of this scale may interest people from adjacent fields with new technologies,” comments Bybit co-founder and CEO Ben Zhou.

In 2020, Bybit donated 10 BTC from the WSOT prize pool to UNICEF’s humanitarian initiatives during the pandemic.

\n\n\n

The COVID-19 crisis continues and complicates access to education for children; therefore in 2021 Bybit increased the donation size fourfold. The cryptocurrency exchange will send up to $400,000 to UNICEF. The funds will help to ensure access to education for children in East Asia and the Pacific region.

“The world is learning to cope with the protracted pandemic, but the most vulnerable segments of society are often overlooked. There is no better investment than investing in the welfare and education of children,” says Bybit’s Head of Communications Ines Terrenus.

To participate in WSOT 2021 you need to have on your account:

\n\n\n

• Individual score: from 300 USDT;
• Individual or team score: from 0.02 BTC.

\n\n\n

Early registrants will receive a $70 bonus. The exchange will conduct daily drawings for bonuses and NFTs among active participants.

\n\n\n

In July, Bybit launched a zero-maker-fee platform for spot trading.
