Bybit to restrict Chinese IP addresses

Bybit cryptocurrency exchange warned about imposing restrictions for Chinese IP addresses starting from June 15, 2021.

According to the notice, users from mainland China will lose access to the API interface for market quotes, orders, and other operations, including third-party trading tools.

Earlier, Vice Premier Liu He said that the authorities intend to take measures against the mining and trading of digital assets.

On May 24, the state information agency Xinhua published a piece criticizing Bitcoin and mining. The authors pointed to risks and the negative impact of cryptocurrencies.

Against this backdrop, Huobi and OKEx reduced their services in mainland China: the first ceased providing mining-pool services, the second — temporarily halted trading of the native OKB token on its P2P platform for residents of the country.
