Canaan Unveils New Line of Bitcoin Miners
At the Bitcoin Asia 2024 exhibition, Canaan introduced its flagship next-generation device for mining the premier cryptocurrency — the A1566 from the Avalon A15 series.
The Bitcoin miner delivers a hash rate of 185 TH/s with a power consumption of 3240 W. The device’s energy efficiency is 18.5 J/TH.
The top model from the previous A1466I line offered 170 TH/s at 19.5 J/TH. The manufacturer first showcased this immersion-cooled setup in September 2023.
The company did not disclose the price of the new 15 series miner. The A1466I is available for purchase for $3398.3 (~$20 per TH/s) excluding shipping and potential fees.
According to the Hashrate Index, the average spot prices for units with energy consumption below 25 J/TH are $12.2 per TH/s. Prices have hovered around this level since autumn 2023.

In March, Bitfarms acquired a batch of Antminer T21 units from major miner manufacturer Bitmain at $14 per TH/s, as well as Antminer S21 and S21 hydro at $17.5 per TH/s.
The energy efficiency of the T21 — 19 J/TH — is comparable to Canaan’s flagship models.
Since 2021, the company has been conducting self-mining operations in Kazakhstan and the USA.
In January, Nasdaq-listed Canaan raised $50 million through the issuance and sale of convertible preferred shares.
