The document will serve as the legal foundation for the project’s decentralized governance, a transition that began with the Chang hard fork in September.
The update implemented a new governance structure with three main components: the Constitutional Committee (CC), dReps, and staking pool operators (SPO). ADA token holders can participate in votes directly or through representatives, influencing the network’s development direction.
Out of 63 delegates from various countries, an overwhelming majority of 60 supported the foundational document. The constitution now requires community approval as part of the decentralized governance process.
Amid the event, hackers breached the Cardano Foundation’s account on social network X, posting fake statements to promote a crypto scam.
In April, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson announced that another significant upgrade, the implementation of a new version of the Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism, is expected by the end of the year.
