Developers of applications, staking pool operators (SPOs), exchanges and other ecosystem participants have four weeks for final testing and integration of the upgrade before the mainnet launch.
“Vasil is a comprehensive programme of work. Projects will need to check backward compatibility, and for SPOs — implement changes to script execution,” noted IOG.
The upgrade also includes:
- Improvements to Cardano’s cryptographic primitives, enabling broader interoperability with other blockchains;
- a tuned Plutus smart-contract interpreter;
- a new cost model that is part of Plutus V2 scripts.
“The Vasil upgrade is the most ambitious programme of work we have undertaken. And the whole community is involved. Our main task is to ensure safe and reliable governance of the upgrade,” stressed the IOG developers.
In June, specialists from the company were forced to delay the activation of Vasil due to unresolved technical problems.
At the end of the month, IOG developers determined the date for the hard fork in the testnet.
