Japanese electronics maker Casio announced the launch of G-SHOCK digital watches in the form of non-fungible tokens on Polygon as part of a partnership with the project.
Users will be able to obtain one of 15,000 NFT passes at no cost, which will grant access to a themed Discord channel. Token holders will participate in a vote on the design of the virtual watches and may submit their own proposal.
Casio customers who had previously registered on the site will receive early access to the ‘Creator Pass’ pre-launch from 23 to 26 September. Public distribution of the tokens will take place from 26 to 29 September.
The release of the main product in the form of 3D renderings of the G-SHOCK watches is scheduled for December 2023.
The collection will be available to residents of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Austria and several other countries.
Casio representatives noted that they chose Polygon for its ‘lightning-fast transactions that make the process of creating and managing NFTs simple and convenient.’
Recall that in August Coca-Cola released a series of non-fungible tokens on Ethereum network second layer Base by Coinbase. The collection pairs works by emerging artists with world masterpieces, including “The Scream” by Edvard Munch and “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Johannes Vermeer.
Earlier Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati announced a collection of non-fungible tokens on the XRP Ledger decentralized network from Ripple Labs.
