
CatalX Exchange Suspends Trading and Withdrawals
Canadian bitcoin exchange CatalX has frozen trading, as well as deposits and withdrawals, following a security breach. This is stated in a press release.
Management suspects that an employee may be involved in the incident. The platform acknowledged the loss of some crypto assets, but did not specify the amount.
“The company is currently conducting an investigation into losses and has hired Deloitte LLP to provide certain […] services,” the statement says.
As of writing, CatalX’s site carried a disclaimer stating that the exchange is experiencing technical difficulties.

On December 21, 2023, the Alberta Securities Commission ordered the company to cease trading and opened an investigation into the platform.
CatalX was founded in 2018 and holds a license from FINTRAC.

Earlier, on-chain investigator ZachXBT suspected the theft of 1282 ETH from hot wallets of the CoinSpot exchange.
