Centre blocks seven USDC addresses at authorities’ request
The Centre consortium behind the USDC stablecoin has added seven Ethereum addresses to its blacklist, according to data from Dune Analytics.
According to The Block, Centre took this step after receiving a corresponding request from law enforcement authorities.
“The consortium enforces court orders that are binding on the organization, and cannot provide explanations”, the publication said.
The current blacklist is the second in the history of the stablecoin. In July 2020, Centre added to the blacklist an Ethereum account belonging to a user with $100,000 in cryptocurrency.
As a reminder, in March 2021 Visa and Crypto.com launched a pilot program to integrate payments in the USDC stablecoin.
