CertiK’s X Account Compromised by Unknown Hackers

On January 5, experts from Revoke Cash alerted the public to the hacking of the X account of CertiK, a company focused on smart contract security audits.

“It appears that CertiK’s X account has been hacked and contains a link to a fake Revoke site. Uniswap is NOT compromised,” the post stated.

The perpetrators falsely claimed an issue with the Uniswap router contract and posted a fraudulent link to Revoke Cash to steal users’ funds.

The community urged users not to click on the links and not to interact with CertiK’s profile.

At the time of writing, the post has been removed. The company has yet to comment on the incident.

Previously, Polychain Capital, a firm focused on the cryptocurrency industry, reported that the X account of its founder and CEO, Olaf Carlson-Wee, had been compromised.

An unknown party posted phishing links and promoted an airdrop of the $PCHAIN token. At the time of writing, the post has been removed, with the latest entry on the profile dated December 23, 2023.

Earlier, hackers took control of the X account of online broker Robinhood to promote a fraudulent RBH token in the BNB Chain.

In the summer of 2023, unknown individuals hacked the accounts of OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, the Aptos blockchain, and Uniswap creator Hayden Adams.

According to Immunefi, the crypto industry suffered $1.8 billion in losses from hacking and fraud over the past year.
