CFTC Accuses Debiex of $2.3 Million Fraud
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has filed a lawsuit in an Arizona district court against the digital asset platform Debiex, alleging fraud amounting to $2.3 million.
According to the charges, since March 2022, representatives of Debiex have been forming friendly or romantic relationships with potential victims to gain their trust.
Subsequently, they encouraged these individuals to open and fund trading accounts on the platform. The CFTC claims that through this scheme, Debiex misappropriated funds from at least five “investors.”
The lawsuit also names Zhang Cheng Yang as a defendant. The platform allegedly used his cryptocurrency wallet to misappropriate funds from at least one victim. The Commission suggests he may have acted as a “money mule.”
Earlier, a woman defrauded a Minsk resident of $20,000 under the guise of purchasing cryptocurrency.
