Chainalysis Reports $37.6 Billion Profit for Cryptocurrency Investors in 2023
In 2023, cryptocurrency investors achieved a total profit of $37.6 billion, according to the analytics firm Chainalysis.
This year proved significantly more successful than 2022, during which digital asset holders lost $127.1 billion. However, the record of $159.7 billion set in 2021 remained unbroken.
Analysts noted that monthly figures remained relatively stable throughout the year. December was the most profitable month, bringing in $8.5 billion for crypto investors.

The United States led by a wide margin with a total profit of $9.36 billion. The United Kingdom followed with $1.39 billion, and Vietnam rounded out the top three with $1.18 billion.
In 2023, residents of Russia earned $1.04 billion from cryptocurrencies, while those in Ukraine made $0.85 billion, Kazakhstan $0.17 billion, and Moldova $0.15 billion.
Chainalysis noted that leading countries in the list are those with both higher and lower income levels. Analysts attribute this to the active integration of digital assets into the traditional economy.
As reported in the global cryptocurrency adoption ranking for 2023 by Chainalysis, India, Nigeria, Vietnam, the United States, and Ukraine topped the list.
The highest annual cryptocurrency transaction volumes were recorded in the United States ($1 trillion), India ($260 billion), and the United Kingdom (~$252.1 billion).
