OpenAI released a new plugin for the paid version of the ChatGPT chatbot, capable of analyzing data, writing Python code, plotting graphs, and solving mathematical problems.
ChatGPT Code Interpreter has also demonstrated effectiveness in unconventional tasks. For example, the AI managed to scientifically prove to supporters of the ‘Flat Earth’ theory that the planet is actually an ellipsoid.
Professor Eitan Mollik of the University of Pennsylvania shared this process in his blog.
“I asked [ChatGPT] to prove to the sceptics that the Earth is round, using code, and it produced a multitude of arguments, combining text with computations and images,” he wrote.
As evidence, the chatbot pointed to the relative positions of the Moon and Sun during an eclipse with respect to the Earth, computing the latter’s radius. It accompanied its answer with graphs and geometric formulas.
Also at the professor’s request, the neural network generated a meme about itself. The bot joked that it cannot forecast the weather.
Mollik noted the “astonishing” capacity of AI to analyse data. Moreover, ChatGPT now reasons at a “human level,” he added.
In his view, the technology is advancing rapidly and will, in the future, greatly simplify programmers’ work by enabling the writing of fully fledged code.
Elliptic added support for ChatGPT to improve blockchain analytics.
Earlier, Hedera Hashgraph integrated a language-model-based plugin for the chatbot.
According to Similarweb, from May to June global ChatGPT decreased by 10%, and the number of unique users fell by 5.7%.
