Chinese police seize nearly $4 million in Bitcoin and EOS from gambling-platform developers

Police in Yancheng, Jiangsu province, China, have arrested a group of developers behind a decentralized gaming platform on the EOS blockchain. местные СМИ, citing law enforcement officials, report.

The application concerns Biggame, which allowed users to place bets on various games. According to authorities, from June 2018 to December 2020 the developers allegedly earned 60 million yuan (~$9 million).

The publication reports that during the raid 15 people were arrested and 26 million yuan (~$3.9 million) were seized in Bitcoin and EOS.

Earlier in October 2020, police in Huizhou, Guangdong province identified suspects in the organization of an illegal gambling operation. Authorities halted the operation of three sites and arrested 77 people, who allegedly used the stablecoin Tether to launder nearly 120 million yuan ($18 million).
