Christie’s launches a venture fund for investments in Web3 and blockchain solutions

British auction house Christie’s announced the launch of a venture fund focused on technology companies developing products in the art space.

Initially, the Christie’s Ventures team will focus on three areas:

• Web3;
• art-finance digital products;
• solutions that enable unimpeded interaction with art objects.

The fund’s first investments went to LayerZero Labs, which is developing a cross-chain protocol.

As reported, Christie’s has been active in the digital-art segment. In March 2021, at auction, Christie’s sold a NFT by artist Beeple for $69.3 million, in May — nine NFTs from the CryptoPunks collection.
