Cloudflare CEO: cryptocurrency exchanges have become a popular target for hackers
Cryptocurrency exchanges have become a popular target for cyberattacks, Cloudflare chief executive Matthew Prince said in an interview on the Mad Money show on CNBC.
According to Prince, cryptocurrency exchanges are among Cloudflare’s clients. He noted that experts are recording ‘more and more innovations by attackers in this space’.
Beyond exchanges, cybercriminals are also targeting other services in the cryptocurrency industry, Prince added.
Cloudflare provides network infrastructure services, secure access to resources and DNS servers, and also protects against DDoS attacks.
As reported by StormWall data, in the first quarter of 2021 the number of DDoS attacks on cryptocurrency services rose significantly. Experts noted that last year hackers’ activity in the financial sector was mainly aimed at banks, but this year their attention has shifted to crypto-related services.
