Coinbase Executive Suggests Kraken May Unveil Satoshi Nakamoto’s Identity

Satoshi Nakamoto was last active in 2014, and the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken might possess information about his identity. This conclusion was drawn by Coinbase’s Head of Product, Conor Grogan, following an analysis of the wallets of the presumed Bitcoin creator.

I went through Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallets; thread of new findings that I don’t think have been previously reported including:

The expert based his analysis on a recently presented list of addresses by the analytics company Arkham. These hold 1.096 million BTC valued at $108 billion.

There is no 100% certainty that all addresses belong to Satoshi. However, there are strong reasons to believe so, according to Grogan.

There are 24 documented outgoing transactions from these addresses. The most popular recipient is the wallet “1PYYj,” which received bitcoins from the Canadian crypto exchange CaVirtEx.

“I believe this is the first documented on-chain transfer between a wallet associated with Satoshi and a centralized exchange,” noted Grogan.

This address is also linked to the 12ib wallet, one of the most active over time. It currently holds 3 BTC.

“This suggests that 1PY was either associated with Satoshi or is a very early follower/co-author,” emphasized the Coinbase Head of Product.

In 2016, Kraken acquired CaVirtEx, which raises the possibility that it may hold information about Satoshi’s true identity.

Grogan recommended deleting any information about the Bitcoin creator if it exists.

In the documentary Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery, released by HBO, the creator of the first cryptocurrency is named as Peter Todd. He is from Canada.

The programmer denied the information and later was forced to go into hiding for security reasons.
