Coinbase Foresees Swift Adoption of Cryptocurrency Legislation
Following Donald Trump’s victory, the swift approval of cryptocurrency legislation is anticipated. This was stated by Coinbase’s policy chief, Faryar Shirzad, in an interview with CNBC.
“We have the most pro-crypto Congress in history. We have an extremely pro-crypto elected president. This combination should finally allow 50 million Americans who own digital assets to have their interests and voice in policy. […] We should expect the adoption of both the market structure bill and the stablecoin bill,” the expert noted.
The House of Representatives has passed the first document, while the second is yet to be voted on, as reminded by the channel’s representatives.
Shirzad declined to predict whom Trump might appoint as head of the SEC. He hopes for an “agent of change who shares the president’s vision.”
Previously, former CFTC head Christopher Giancarlo was mentioned as a candidate for the position. He ruled out such a scenario, citing a reluctance to “clean up” the current leader’s aftermath.
Giancarlo has called digital assets a priority for Trump. The official is expected to be appointed “crypto czar” in the new administration.
The appointment is expected to provide the digital asset industry with a dedicated specialist to discuss industry issues and engage in dialogue with the president.
